Lesson 2
Now that we understand the NXT and its components, lets try out some of the sensors.
First you need to understand how to navigate the NXT.
First you need to understand how to navigate the NXT.
Now that you understand how to use the NXT lets step through the sensors. First take the touch sensor and using the wire plug it into the NXT in port 1. Now turn on the NXT by pressing the orange button. From there go into View>Touch Sensor>Port 1. Now try playing with the sensor. Do this for the light sensor (reflective pointed at surface and ambient pointed upwards), ultrasonic sensor, sound sensor, and rotation sensor (put into port A). Check the numbers you got with each sensor page of the website.
With this lesson there is also a bit of "homework".
For some sensor there is a special task you must complete to get a better understanding of how they work.

- Try to get a 0.5 or 2 on the touch sensor. Is this possible? Why or why not?
- In one minute, use the reflective light sensor to find four colours that give you values of 5, 32, 64, and 90. What colours did you find?
- Using the sound sensor, try to sing a note at precisely 42.
- Set the rotation sensor to 0. Turn the NXT brick upside down and try turning the motor until the sensor reads 360, 540, and 700.
