Sound Block
The sound block allows the robot to play sounds from words to tones. It is simple a quick to use.
First option is Action. This is to select whether you would like to play a Sound File, which can be words and cartoon sounds, or a Tone, like a key on a piano. This option changes the section to the right of the settings.
Next is Control. This determines if the robot is to play a sound or it is to stop a sound currently playing. If you are stopping a sound, the selection you made in action does not matter.
Volume is the next section. This is where you can set how loud the sound should play from 0-100% of the NXT speaker volume.
Following this is Function. Here you can tell the robot if it should play the sound once or keep looping it over and over again. This is where the stop in Control comes into play. If you set it to repeat the only way to stop the sound later is to put another sound block set to stop or end the program. This option is great for repeating a sound because it can be set once and the robot handles playing it in the background so you don't have to.

Next is where you choose the sound. If you selected Sound File in Action then this is labelled as File and has a list of words and sounds you can choose from. Clicking on one will play it on the computer for you to hear. Select the sound you want by clicking on it. If you selected Tone in Action then this is labelled as Note and has piano keys along it. You can choose a key by clicking on it or typing in the note in the textbox above it. It will also play the sound on the computer for you to hear. There is also a textbox above in this section for setting how long the tone will play.
Finally there is Wait. Here you set whether the robot should wait for the sound to complete play before continuing in the program or not. Remember for different sound files there will be different lengths of time.
